CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19)

Following the Government’s directive to keep our nation safe and slow the spread of COVID-19, our Centre is temporarily closed, and will re-open 15 June 2020.

All memberships have been suspended until we are able to welcome you back. You do not need to take any action, we have automatically done this for you.

Friends Health & Fitness will commence a phased re-opening from 15 June 2020. Initially this will be for members only, including our seniors, on a ‘pay by session” basis at a flat rate of $10.00. 

During the initial phase our opening hours will be 6am to 10am and 5pm to 8pm from Monday to Friday. The centre will remain closed during the middle of the day and on weekends. There will be staggered entry times to ensure everyone can maintain physical distancing.

Bookings will be essential and will be available to members through an online booking system, phone bookings will not be accepted.

Our members are an extension of our community and with that in mind, memberships have been put on hold until we are able to welcome you back.
In the meantime, we have developed an online delivery system for both Group Fitness and Personal Training programs giving you the option to work out in the safety of your own home.

Remote Training

No, all Direct Debits were placed on hold on 23 March until such time as we can welcome you back to the Centre with unrestricted numbers. During phase one of our re-opening plan those who attend sessions will need to pay by the session – a flat rate of $10.00. Memberships will remain on hold.

Yes, all session passes have been suspended and will be available as soon as we are able to re-open our Centre. The expiry period of these visits will be extended.

*Note: If you need to extend your session pass once we re-open please speak with customer service. We will process these on an ‘as needs’ basis as most people use their pass well before the 12 month expiry.

Not during the first phase of re-opening, with restricted numbers able to be accommodated in this phase it will be for members only.

Stage 2 of the Tasmanian Government’s restrictions allow for a maximum of 1 swimmer per lane, up to 20 in the gym and up to 20 participants in group fintness, so long as social distancing measures are observed.

Members will be required to book for a specific session with a fixed duration. Members will be required to leave the Centre immediately after their allocated session ends and prior to the next session commencing.

The number of sessions will be restricted to allow as many members as possible to access Friends Health & Fitness during the initial re-opening phase.  Members will be asked to limit their sessions to two per week. Additional bookings may be made 2 hours prior to the commencement of a session if there are vacancies.

  • Members will be required to use hand sanitiser on arrival.
  • Cleaning and sanitising stations are offered throughout the Centre
  • Social distancing will be monitored at all times.
  • Equipment/workstations will be sanitised regularly and members will be expected to use the provided antibacterial wipes to clean the equipment after they have used it.
  • Some equipment may be removed if it is difficult to sanitise.
  • Equipment will be spaced according to social distancing guidelines.
  • Any member or staff member who displays symptoms of a fever, cough, sore throat, or difficulty breathing will be asked to stay away from the Centre and recommended to be tested for COVID-19.
  • Additional professional cleaning will also take place.
  • We encourage you to download the COVID-SAFE app.

Child minding will not be available during the initial phase of re-opening. 

We are currently offering a Remote Training program for Group Fitness classes.
