About the program
The Living Longer Living Stronger program aims to improve health outcomes, fitness and quality of life for older people through strength and balance training. The program is available to everyone aged 50 or older and 40 or older for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders. Our sessions are conducted within our well-equipped gym and fully supervised by one of our accredited Living Longer Living Stronger instructors.
Tailored to your needs
Each participant is assessed and provided with a strength and balance training program tailored to their individual needs. As you get stronger, our instructors will update your program within the supervised sessions to ensure it remains suitable and effective. Living Longer Living Stronger is suitable for people of all fitness levels and abilities.
Have fun and make friends
Sessions are delivered by one of our accredited instructors in a group setting to facilitate social connections.
Affordable access to strength training
The program is designed to provide affordable access to supervised strength and balance training. Fees are capped by COTA Tasmania to keep costs low and participants may also be able to access rebates through their health fund or Medicare.

Initial Assessment (55 minutes) $59
This one-off initial assessment with one of our accredited Living Longer Living Stronger instructors includes discussing your needs, including your medical and exercise history. Your instructor will complete a movement screen to enable them to prescribe a suitable strength and balance training program to meet your needs. They will coach you through your program to allow you to build confidence within the gym environment and give you a good understanding of your program prior to attending your first supervised Living Longer Living Stronger session.
